Volunteer to Judge

Volunteering with DECA allows you to make a real difference in the preparation of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. Whether through judging competitive events and discovering the detail and depth DECA members put into their projects or sitting down with graduating members to answer questions on college and careers, you will begin to see how DECA members are ready to make an impact in the world.

As a volunteer judge, you will sit across the table from DECA’s most talented members and evaluate the knowledge and skills they have developed all year. You provide the real-world expertise that sets our industry-validated competitive events program apart as you determine who will be named an International Career Development Conference qualifier.

As a competitive events judge, you will connect with DECA members who have been preparing all year-long in classrooms for their chance to shine.

  • Members will share promotional strategies for a case study they just received 10 minutes prior.

  • Members will passionately explain how they activated an entire community for a cause.

  • Members will unveil a comprehensive marketing strategy for a local business.

  • Members will tell you about their real business (yes, real) and their plans to grow it over the next three years.

  • Members will give you innovative ideas that you can use in your own company!

DECA members will compete against district finalists in one of DECA’s more than 60 competitive events based on industry and national curriculum standards. Students will compete in role-plays, case studies and prepared business presentations in event categories such as Accounting, Integrated Marketing Campaign, Business Operations Research, Business Law and Ethics, Entrepreneurship, Fashion Merchandising, Hotel and Lodging Management, Project Management, Restaurant Management, Retail Merchandising, Sales Management and Sports and Entertainment Marketing.

The Ohio DECA Career Development Conference would not be possible without the commitment of professionals like you. On behalf of all DECA students and staff, thank you for your interest in serving as a competitive events judge!
